Installation of CVS on solaris 2.6

I was trying to build CVS on Solaris 2.6 using gcc for i386 family: The output is as below.     *********************************************************************************************   # ./configure --prefix=/usr/local loading cache ./config.cache checking for a BSD compatible install... ./install-sh -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... (cached) nawk checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... (cached) no checking for etags... (cached) ctags -e checking whether ctags -e works... (cached) no checking for gawk... (cached) nawk checking for gcc... (cached) gcc checking whether the C compiler (gcc  ) works... no configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.   *******************************************************************************************   I would like to know the compiler that is to be used for solaris 2.6.
