No they didn't -- sticky tags are in your working directory, not the
repository.  Most likely, *you* did an update -r Release_Aug21_2001
before you left, which made that a sticky tag.  All you need to do is
run update -A to remove the sticky tag and get up-to-date with what's in
the repository.
