That sounds like you tried it in a directory that had a subdirectory
named CVS that wasn't a CVS administrative subdirectory and thus didn't
contain an Entries file.  Try it in a completely empty directory or use
-d to specify a name and let it create a new directory.  If it still
doesn't work, you must be running on Windows.
