Hi, I decide to make periodic backups of my system's configuration files (linux Suse 7.3) using cvs.
I importe /etc into a repository in a users home dir and changed the owner and group of those files to that particular user and the 'users' group. I then checked out, the repository and proceeded to copy /etc again into the checked out directory. I then issued sudo -u saimonm cvs update etc (saimonm has permission to run cvs as himself) This worked fine...however...after sudo -u saimonm cvs commit -m "regular commit" etc I got the following: ...various lines similar to the following 4 cvs commit: in directory etc/X11/susewm/AddEntrys/SuSE/Utilities/unspec: cvs commit: ignoring CVS/Root because it does not contain an absolute pathname. cvs commit: in directory etc/X11/susewm/AddEntrys/SuSE/Utilities/unspec: cvs commit: ignoring CVS/Root because it does not contain an absolute pathname. cvs [commit aborted]: cannot open directory /home/saimonm/cvs/configBK/#SuSEwmSKIPthisFILE I checked out cvs archives and somebody mentioned having r/w permissions and setting the sguid bit for all the directories in the repo. That is the case and I'm still getting the same error message. The strange thing is I can commit fine using cervisia (cvs client). I would appreciate any sort of help on this matter as I'm a bit lost. Thanks, Saimon _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
