Greg, What would you recommend as the "right tool" for the job? I am faced with a similar problem, although have not resorted to David Clunie's solution as yet. Can you be more specific about why CVS is the "wrong" tool for this in your opinion?

It doesn't make it any more correct. It's still the wrong tool for the job. Subtle changes to your process could prove disasterous, just as using a knife as a screw driver could cause far more serious injury (or damage to to the workpiece or tool) than would be likely if the correct tool were used. > PS.
