Why do you want to remove the files from there? CVS is a system for
controlling source code and retaining the ability to recreate
earlier versions. If you remove files completely, you can't
recreate versions where they existed.

Right now, you won't get them if you check out a current source tree,
because they're in the Attic, with status "dead". What more do
you want?

The only way to remove them from the Attic is to remove the ,v files
from the repository, and that will destroy your ability to recreate
older versions of the software.
