There is nothing close to that related to CVS as far as I know; you may be mixing concepts with something that is stored in CVS and may have it's "headers and footers" changed by CVS through the use of keyword substitution (i.e. $Date$ which gives you the date the revision was checked in), if that's the case look at section 12 of the Cederqvist CVS manual.
