A couple of weeks ago, there were three messages from three different people posted within a few days of each other asking about a problem with 1.11.2 w/ a local repository. I was one of the three; we're all getting "your apparent username (user) is unknown to this system" errors on commits, admins, etc. (checkouts work). Mine is the cvshome.org Win32 version of 1.11.2 on Win2000SP2.
None of the three received any responses. That could be because we didn't do our homework, or because no one knows the answer. I *think* I've done as much homework as I know how to do, so I'd really like to know which it is. This followup may be (probably is) an etiquette breach, and if so I apologize, but I really want to get on the new version. I've searched the Cederqvist. I've searched the FAQ. I've searched Google. I've downloaded the 73MB+ mail-list archive and searched it (only appearances of "apparent username" is in the three messages above). I've even taken a stab at looking at the source, and grep didn't find the above error message anywhere in the source (I found a possible close match in one of the .c files, but it doesn't do me much good since I'm not a C programmer. :) So, could one or two of the experts *please* give us some indication of whether this is a known problem, or whether we're just missing something obvious? I've personally been using 1.10.x for over a year with no problem, so it's not that I don't know *anything* about CVS.
