Hi.

I am new to the list, so please be gentle.

I had a disk-crash. But I happend to save the home partition. I have a
rather old backup of the CVS repository that I have now reestablished
plus a more recent versions of some directories checked out of the CVS
prior to the crash.

I now want to update (commit) my working revisions of the files for
those directories that I have checked out prior to the disk-crash.

I get status reports such as

cvs server: thesis.ps is no longer in the repository
===================================================================
File: thesis.ps         Status: Entry Invalid

   Working revision:    1.1
   Repository revision: No revision control file
   Sticky Tag:          (none)
   Sticky Date:         (none)
   Sticky Options:      (none)

===================================================================
File: thesis.tex        Status: Needs Patch

   Working revision:    1.75
   Repository revision: 1.31    /usr/local/cvsroot/speciale/thesis/thesis.tex,v
   Sticky Tag:          (none)
   Sticky Date:         (none)
   Sticky Options:      (none)

Since the CVS repository is rather old, some files where not added to
CVS at the time of the backup. But the working repository
CVS-subdirectory contains information that they are. Other files have
revision numbers far larger than those in the CVS.

How can I easily make my CVS repository up-to-date only loosing the
history information between time of backup and now (working revision)?

There are many directories, so I would prefer no manual changes to CVS
sub directories in working revision directory.

Please help.

Thanks.

Jarl
