I would;

- stop access to the repository (stop inetd if no local connections)
- tar and ftp to new machine
- ensure you have the right
        /etc/services
        /etc/inetd.conf
        /etc/profile (CVSROOT entry)

..essentially you are just moving a directory across to the new machine, the
rest is just to configure remote access.

Check which authentication method was previously used, if it was
/CVSROOT/passwd you only need to ensure the cvs account is the same on the
new machine. For other access methods best check the manual.

Hope this helps......

Subject: CVS newb (backup)

Hello guys I am a CVS newb and I've been selected to admin a CVS box. I'm
working on reinstalling the box and I was wondering what the easiest way of
backing up the repository on one machine and restoring to another is. Any
help would be appreciated!  Thanks

Chad Wilson
