A
couple of words of advice:
You need to do a couple more things when installing the
server as IBM "allocates" the 2401 port for there own use.
Make sure that the default "ulimits" are adaquate for what
your doing. The defaults on AIX can be restricting.
Also even if the ulimits are unlimited and large file
support is used, we've run into problems with really large (80 meg < ) binary
files. (opsystem problems not cvs).
Disk access on an rs6000 can be slow, but it does seem to
help if you can stripe the disks.
NOTE:
As our project grew in size we moved from
an IBM V50 running AIX 4.3.3 to a Dell 2 processor machine (with raid array)
running Linux and were suprised at the performance increase.

Subject: Running CVS on AIXHi All,
We (my company) is planning on installing CVS on an RS6000 running AIX.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or advice for us.
Cheers,
Nick
