As far as I know there is no danger beyond that which you are already
aware of, provided you and all your users are aware of _all_ of the
quirks that will come from doing what you're doing; and most importantly
so long as your users don't expect CVS to work like CVS was designed to
work and is documented to work.
People use the wrong tools for the job all the time and for all kinds of
different jobs, and doing so rarely invites a whole lot more "danger".
Often these people even claim they gain quite a bit of satisfaction from
doing so too, though I'm sure they'd get even more satisfaction from a
job well done with the right tools.
