Although you didn't need it for this particular instance, there are lots
of very similar problems that can't be solved without it and it's very
hard to create after the fact.  For example, if you want to see the
actual changes or merge them, or if you wanted to see just part of the
branch rather than the whole branch, you would need a branch point tag.
