Correct. Checkout to something else and then rename the directories if you need to. cvs does not like the possiblity that it will be clobbering uncontrolled files.
Aaaaaaah, that's a good point. That means I am able to - import - remove all files which are now under control of CVS - checkout
That's absolutely working. I did not think about removing _only_ the files which are now CVS-controlled.
Now it is working.
