I have searched thru the mail lists but can not find a solution to the problem. This error occurs for any operation I try to due. Mostly I was just trying to do a commit as a test.

cvs [commit aborted]: Invalid Lockserver version - got 1.2, wanted 2.1

I am using Windows XP home edition sp2, CVSNT2.0.21, and tortoise-cvs 1.8.10, as a local system. There are no network database connections, or other networks for that matter apart from the Internet connection.

The system has worked fine for about a year. Today I had the misfortune to install 1.8.11 of Tortoise-cvs and now I get the above error. Un-installing Tortoise and going back to 1.8.10 did not help. The error persists. I can find no information on the Tortoise-cvs site on the error.

I also renamed the directory I work under and copied down an archive of the client directory (mine), but I still get the error

Should I remove and re-install CVS or is there a newer CVS I should be using? It seems to me that it is mixing up the order of its bytes somewhere.

Any advice would be appreciated, this has brought all my work to a halt. Thank you.

Robert Lewis
