I'm trying to set the environment variable CVSROOT="/usr/local/cvs-rep". I use the export command like this in the terminal: export CVSROOT="/usr/local/cvs-rep". When I exit the terminal, (which runs the default bash) the variable cvsroot goes away. I have looked in a bunch of places which say that the export command makes for permanent environment variables. I am running redhat 8.0. Can someone tell me how I get the var to stay?
