Ah, I didn't understand the part about the attic. I'm trying to build a system that will still work when the server is off-line. I'll have to scratch my head about that one.
No doubt I did the init by mistake. Before I did it, it adding caused it to yell at me about CVSROOT and after it did not yell, so it seemed right to me, but as I said, I'm new. Thank you.
