More to the point: CVS does not capture any kind of OS-specific information. Creator and Type fields (fields in general, actually) are specific to Mac computers, and have no meaning on other platforms.
I suppose it might be possible to extend CVS to capture OS-specific metadata, but that would be a fairly significant development effort.
