Well, yes, if we could agree on a price and schedule.  I make some of my
living customizing CVS - it's like any other contract work as I see it
and I already have a lot of experience with the code base.

That's not to say that such a change would definitely get into a feature
release...  I would offer it up, but it would still have to get by the
rest of the CVS developers.  *I* wouldn't even advocate/vote for it
unless I thought it was useful, of course, but I haven't been paid to
code anything I wouldn't advocate for inclusion in feature yet -
probably because I tend to discourage features I don't believe are The
Right Way (tm) to do a thing and prospective customers tend to either
take my advice or decide not to hire me.  :)

MySQL.com, at least, does something similar with MySQL.  I think they
have a bug database with a "contribute funding for this feature" button
or the like.  I think I came acros something like that a while back and
I've come across funding requests regarding planned features in the
MySQL manual and other MySQL documentation.

Yes.  New features go to 1.12.x right now.  No point in potentially
destabilizing production for this one.
