Only if the repository host doesn't distinguish between text and binary
files (Unix-like systems don't, DOS/Windows systems do). If the host
*does* distinguish between text and binary files, the repository data
has almost certainly been corrupted and you'll need to checkin (or
import) correct copies of the files to replace the damaged ones.
