What version of CVS fixes this? Is the version that fixes this unstable?

I've heard that update with the -kk flag to prevent conflicts from
version expansion can also create conflicts in binary files. I've also
heard that version 1.12.2 fixes this. However, it seems like that
version of CVS isn't stable. We're currently running version 1.11.17 on
a G4 Mac.
