I had problems using vim as my editor & cvs commit messages - similar to
what you described. I ended up switching to just plain, old, vi.

EDITOR=/usr/bin/vi

Subject: cvs commit: warning: editor session failed

I typed
cvs commit filename

on the command line, and I was taken into an editor session.
After I :wq the editor in vim, I got:

"/tmp/cvslzaWap" 11/376
cvs commit: warning: editor session failed

Any suggestions for what caused this and what's the fix?
