The "attic" is where history is stored for files that have been deleted
from the project. Sounds like someone is working on a branch off an old
version of the source before those files were deleted. When the older
tagged version is checked out, the files are written into the directory
they once belonged in. Since they are no longer part of the project,
when they get checked in, they go into the attic (in the repository).

My developers use eclipse + CVS and I am trying to
understand the following:
1. when some files get checked in they go into
/project/Web/pages/Attic on the server.
2. while when they get checked out both in eclipse and
on the cli they appear in /project/Web/pages. This
action is occurring on a branch tag.
Does this make sense to anyone? If it does can
someone explain it? Can someone also recommend a good
book? I am new to cvs and I have been under the wrong
impression. I can't find any explanation on the web.
TIA,
