I don't recall how far away that code was from
being able to be used, but it was a newtags2
branch in the CVS repository.

Modifiers to tag names included:

          .base
          .head
          .root
          .origin
          .prev
          .next
          .commitid

WIth some discussion of a .trunk to also be added.
So, -r.trunk.head would give you the head of the
main trunk.
