Hi everybody,

I have to move a Cyrus IMAP store from 2.2.8 running on RedHat EL 3.0 to 2.2.12 running on RedHat EL 4.0.

The proper way to do it would be to use imapcopy, I know. But still... is simply copying /var/spool/imap to be considered? o:-) Or is it totally out of the question?

In theory, you could copy /var/imap and /var/spool/imap (making sure that all permissions are correct). If your server has a newer BDB, then you'll either have to upgrade any BDB databases (probably deliver.db, tls_sessions.db) using BDB tools or remove the databases and the contents of /var/imap/db.

Also, if your old server has multiple Cyrus partitions for the mailspool, your new server should use the same partition names.

I'm sure there is something else that needs to be considered, but if there is, it escapes me at the moment.
