I am pleased to announce the release of GNU ed 1.22.6.

GNU ed is a line-oriented text editor. It is used to create, display, modify and otherwise manipulate text files, both interactively and via shell scripts. A restricted version of ed, red, can only edit files in the current directory and cannot execute shell commands. Ed is the 'standard' text editor in the sense that it is the original editor for Unix, and thus widely available. For most purposes, however, it is superseded by full-screen editors.

Changes in version 1.22.6:

* Some changes have been made to the code to pacify gcc's static analyzer. (Reported by Mikel Olasagasti Uranga).

* 'regex(7)' has been added to the --help output and to section 'SEE ALSO' in the man page.

* It has been documented in the manual that the cut buffer is deleted when a new file is read with 'e' or 'E'. (Reported by Tim Chase).

* It has been documented in the manual that using a regular expression inside the command-list of a global command may cause the "last regular expression processed" to differ between the first and subsequent executions of the command-list. (Reported by Artyom Bologov).
