Yes, check out the section of the manual on Scoring.
I have this in my ~/News/all.SCORE (among other things):
("references"
("<87[0-9a-z]+\\.fsf\\(_-_\\)?...@.*koldfront.dk>" nil nil r))
to highlight articles/emails with a References-header with a Message-ID
generated by my Gnus in it.
