AFAIK the use case for Gnus agent is slightly different. The idea is to download all available articles (or a subset explicitly marked) while on-line and read the later while offline. For your task I think the Gnus cache (See Gnus info 3.12 Article Caching) might be more appropriate. -- Have you ever considered how much text can fit in eighty columns? Given that a signature typically contains up to four lines of text, this space allows you to attach a tremendous amount of valuable information to your messages.
