Unfortunately, my imap server is shows as denied so I cannot display any
mailboxes.

I have set imap-log to t, but the imap-log buffer still does not tell me
*WHY* I cannot access the imap server. It contains a few commands
none of which try to login. Just NOOP and CONFIGURE. The imap server
responds with a list of its capabilities which include IMAP4 and
IMAP4rev1.

So I cannot do what you suggested.
