I have now edebugged my way through the functions down to
gnus-request-article-this-buffer and found half the answer:
,----[ C-h v gnus-keep-backlog RET ]
| gnus-keep-backlog is a variable defined in ‘gnus.el’.
|
| Its value is 20
|
| If non-nil, Gnus will keep read articles for later re-retrieval.
| If it is a number N, then Gnus will only keep the last N articles
| read. If it is neither nil nor a number, Gnus will keep all read
| articles. This is not a good idea.
`----
I need to set this to nil.
The other thing I need to tackle is gnus-original-article-buffer. And
I /think/ I might be able to thwart that one by setting
gnus-single-article-buffer.
Best regards,
Adam
