I got a brochure in the mail yesterday from the MIT course, scheduled for
June. Called Don Thomas and Steve Farell but they are out of country until
Monday.
SPIE has agreed to help sponsor some awards for Optics and High Speed
Photography at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Detroit in
May. June Thompson needs some response from corporate sponsors for some prizes
and scholarship support for the best students in the fair. It's a good way to
recongize and cultivate new users and experts. It's good recognition
internationally across a broad exposure of scientists and engineers from every
sector of the technical community. I would like to see the best papers
submitted and presented at the San Jose or Sendai Meeting. I think it would be
appropriate for the best of the projects that uses motion analysis or high
speed photonics to be selected for a scholarship to attend the MIT meeting.
Probably will need some help in judging too.
