Hi, This is a reminder about Software Freedom Day this Saturday, September 20th. Software Freedom Day is an international holiday that is observed all over the world.
Here in Boston the FSF is hosting an event at Encuentro 5 in Chinatown. The day starts off at 10 am and we'll begin with a keynote from Aaron Swartz of watchdog.net who will talk about how he used free software to free information. After that we'll move into workshops for both the experienced and the not-yet-experienced, including demos on graphics software and hacking mobile devices. After lunch we'll be watching Stephen Fry's video about free software and holding Lightning Talks, when you might get a chance to address the crowd. Saturday, September 20th -- 10am-4pm Encuentro 5 http://www.encuentro5.org/ 33 Harrison Ave, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02111 Registration begins at 10am and lunch will be provided View the full schedule for Boston's celebration here, http://groups.fsf.org/index.php/Software_Freedom_Day_in_Boston_2008 It would help us plan for the day if you RSVP'ed in advance by emailing [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you aren't near Boston, you can check http://www.softwarefreedomday.org to see if an event is planned near you. If nothing's already happening near you, you may want to host a showing of Stephen Fry's video explaining free software yourself. It's been translated into 24 different languages, so you can spread the message of free software far and wide, http://www.gnu.org/fry/ Happy Software Freedom Day!
