Grant Wood AEA and Apple Computer are offering a Digital Media Tools Summer Institute for Educators this summer. Participants will learn to integrate technology into the curriculum during this week-long camp. Training will include creation of multimedia curricular units using Apple's iLife suite (iMovie, iTunes, iPhoto). Participants will: * Learn how to use and apply a variety of digital media to a classroom setting. * Explore and design integrated lessons for digital media tools. * Create projects that may be implemented in the classroom. * Share projects and lessons with other institute participants. * Demonstrate an ability to use a variety of digital media tools in an integrated fashion to support teaching, learning, and student achievement. Agenda Day One: Exploring the educational possibilities of digital media tools * Overview of digital media tools; being wireless * What’s possible? The Apple Learning Interchange * Review lesson ideas; thinking about curriculum integration * Plan a project with Inspiration * Use iPhoto and iTunes Day Two: iMovie in the classroom * Videography * Digital story telling * Editing digital video Day Three: The power of the digital hub * Combining iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes * Discovering the power of OSX * Using iCal, iChat, Mail, .Mac with digital media tools * Work on projects Day Four: Putting it all together * Create with iDVD * Present with Keynote * Finish projects * Share and celebrate: Popcorn and iApplications Day Five: Taking it to the next step * CD and Web Publishing with .Mac * Rip, Mix, Burn * Reflection * Next Steps December Date: Reviewing, sharing, and assessing results * Participant presentations on their integration of projects and lessons * Discussion and review of presentations * Discussion of assessment methods used Equipment needs * Bring a digital still camera or camcorder, if you have one. (We will have some cameras & camcorders to share.) * Bring your computer, if you want, with OSX and the most recent versions of the iApplications. (We will have some iBooks for participants to use.) * Bring a few blank CDs and/or DVDs Registration The cost is $300 per participant for the entire week.
