We leased a Sharp from IA Office and with it came a Network Card &
Software. Installing the client, there was either Sharp's way - searching
for Sharp printers on the LAN, or one could add an LPR printer, creating a
port, type IP. We disliked the Sharp software greatly - it added FTP
clients to the machines, and' we'd just as well not have the secretaries
running FTP services. Instead we added the drivers to the directory. Then
we could either push the printer down to any machines on the LAN - or let
the users pull the printer out of the directory, dropping in the drivers
automatically (NOS looks to see if they're w9x , w2k, or wxp. Less work
for them and us, and certainly cleaner fixes.
