It may have undesired effects but if you block
login.passport.net you may have good luck.

You can also block the default client port of 1863 for msn and I believe
1590 for AOL chat, however usually the msn will default to regular port
80 when the connection cannot be made on 1863, otherwise I also block
sites for messaging and I also have a group policies which do not allow
the msn program to be executed.

I know you can text message to a cell phone by using the web site of
your cell phone service. I can send a message from uscellular.com if I
enter my cell phone number and the number of the phone I want to send
to. If you can find out the web site(s) they are sending from, you can
probably add the site(s) to your firewall.

I assume you are not talking about Instant Messaging like MSN Messenger,
Yahoo Messenger, or AOL Instant Messenger. I have those sites blocked
with my firewall already. There are probably others, but I have not
found any that install on the local machines.

I had a teacher inform me today that the students have figured
out how to do text messaging from the computers at school. Any
suggestions on how to block this little activity.

        Thanks,
