Ive just returned from taking my A+ Certification Exams and Im feeling pretty defeated.

I passed the software exam but I have to retake the core (hardware) exam.

In preparation for the testing, I took 3 online classes from Iowa Lakes (ed2go.com/iowalakes)  - 1) Basic A+ Certification Prep, 2) Intermediate A+ Certification Prep, and 3) Advanced A+ Certification Prep.  I printed off all of the lessons from all of the courses and I have 3 huge binders full of information.

I also bought another book A+ Fast Pass by David Groth because it was recommended by someone who had taken the certification test.  I  read it twice.  I also took advantage of the electronic flashcards and practice tests that came on a CD with the book.

I have several hundred flashcards that Ive made from all of my materials.

I even downloaded and used sample practice tests (Study Hall A+ Demo Exams).

I went in feeling well prepared and confident.  In fact, I actually felt stronger in the hardware than I did in the software

As it turned out, the majority of the things I studied werent even on the tests.  A good portion of items on the tests I had never seen before.  Its like I studied Spanish and the tests was in French.  Evidentally, my guesses on the software test were better than those on the hardware test.

I want to retake the test, but I dont know what to study before trying again.  Obviously, the materials I have wont help me.

Does anyone know of any books or resources that are more specific to the Core Hardware Exam?  At $145.00 a test, I cant afford to keep studying the wrong material.  Thank you in advance.
