| AEA 267 and Apple Computer are pleased to announce 2 classes designed to
| create a high level of competency for those who provide technical
| support for Macintosh computers.  (See below for detailed agendas).
|
| These 2 classes are designed for help desk specialists, technology
| coordinators, service technicians, others who support Mac OS X
| customers, and anyone interested in becoming certified as an Apple
| Certified Help Desk Specialist (ACHDS) and/or an Apple Certified
| Technical Coordinator (ACTC).
|
| Those who complete these classes will come away with a much higher level
| of technical knowledge to help educators integrate technology throughout
| the educational program in the schools they serve.
|
| Below is the basic information for both of these classes. Please feel
| free to sign up for one or both of these classes.  The cost per
| participant is $1000 for each class.
|
| Typical pricing for these classes:
| Mac OS X Support Essentials v10.4 - Public:  $1,500, Education: $1,350,
|  Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.4  - Public:  $2,000, Education: $1,800

| 3) Both classes will be listed, so click on the SIGN-UP button to the

| Purchase orders will be invoiced on July 1, 2006 and must be made
| payable to AEA 267.
|

| Course Description
| Mac OS X Support Essentials is a three-day, hands-on course that
| provides an intensive and in-depth exploration of troubleshooting on Mac
| OS X. This course is designed to give you a tour of the breadth of
| functionality of Mac OS X and the best methods for effectively
| supporting users of Mac OS X systems. The course is a combination of
| lectures and hands-on case study exercises that provide practical
| real-world experience.

| Who should attend?
| This class is for help desk specialists, technical coordinators, service
| technicians, and others who support Mac OS X customers. This audience
| could include technical support personnel in businesses that use Mac OS
| X systems for general productivity or creative design,  service
| technicians who support Mac OS X customers, and technical coordinators
| or power users who manage networks of Mac OS X systems for their
| organization—such as teachers and technology specialists who manage
| classroom networks or computer

| Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to

| The user and group permissions model as applied in Mac OS X.

| The differences between native, BSD, Java and Classic applications
| running on Mac OS X.

| Command-Line Interface
| Using the Terminal application to run BSD commands to accomplish simple
| administration tasks.

| Network Configuration and Troubleshooting
| Configuring Mac OS X workstations for networking, and troubleshooting
| common networking issues.

| Accessing Network Services
| Using Mac OS X to access network services, including file, mail and web
| servers, as well as basic directory services.

| Providing Network Services
| Using Mac OS X to provide network services. Sharing files using AFP,
| SMB, FTP, and HTTP.  Securing services using the Mac OS X firewall.

| FireWire, and Bluetooth buses.

| Configuring and troubleshoot printing on Mac OS X.

| Understand and troubleshooting the different stages of the Mac OS X
| startup sequence.

| Using the troubleshooting flowchart and the various resources and
| practices to troubleshoot workstation problems. Using the skills learned
| in the course to troubleshoot specific equipment requirements on a
| computer “broken” by the instructor.

| Course Description
| Mac OS X Server Essentials is a four-day course designed to give
| technical coordinators and entry-level system administrators the skills,
| tools, and knowledge to implement and maintain a Mac OS X Server-based
| system. Students will learn how to install and configure Mac OS X Server
| to provide network-based services, such as file sharing, authentication,
| and printing. Tools for efficiently managing and deploying Mac OS X are
| also covered. The course is a combination of lectures and hands-on case
| study exercises that provide practical real-world experience.

| Who should attend?
| This class is for help desk specialists, technical coordinators, and
| entry-level system administrators who are tasked with implementing and
| maintaining Mac OS X Server–based systems.
