I use the old Microsoft RIS server, and we like it. It takes Sysprep one step further allowing you to net boot the computer and pull the image from a server.
After you do your Sysprep as Tony has mentioned, you could use a freeware tool such as DriveImageXML (found on UBCD4WIN http://ubcd4win.com) and do you imaging that way. That would boot from a CD and you could access the image from your file server. Good luck!!!
