At the Projector Shootout Monday we evaluated a "Close Focus" projector
class. There were 4 projectors in the category that were designed to be
mounted close to the screen, say 1-3 feet range. We awarded the

Toshiba TDP-EX20U Conference Room Projector

The cost will be $1368.54 on the spring co-op

It will display a 100" diagonal picture only 4.9 feet from the screen.

The Texas Instruments Rep said that one state has mandated close focus
projectors. The benefit is that the instructor when at the screen the are
not looking into the projector. It also has built in Wireless, but still
can not do Video faster than 15 frames per second.

Other Projectors

NEC projectors awarded VT695 & VT700. The VT491 was not awarded in the SVGA
category and did not look as good as the InFocus IN2102EP projector and more
expensive than the InFocus.

We awarded a LCD and DLP in most categories. DLP has added a technology
called "Brilliant Color" that makes the DLP color representation as good as
LCD projectors. With DLP projectors not needing filters (and cleaning
filters), higher contrast ratios, and good color reproduction I would
recommend districts purchase projectors using DLP technology over LCD.
