We are currently using Track-it to monitor our software and hardware, as
well as the helpdesk side of it. The AEA is internally using that as
well. We are also doing a little testing with SpiceWorks, which is free
but does display some ads to cover the cost. I just looked at the one
Lance sent out, but I didn't see much on the hardware/software inventory
piece.

I can't afford to continue with Track-it, and we are looking for
alternatives. If anyone out there has other ideas, I would like more
ideas as well.

Subject: [info-tech] software recommendation

With our new 1:1 laptop program here, I am having to keep much more
detailed records of every bit of maintenance and repair done on a
machine, whether that machine was moved from one user to another,
whether its battery came from another machine, etc. It's going beyond
what I (think I) can do with Excel.

Recommendations on a good (hopefully free and cross-platform) piece of
software to do this?
