I got this response back from them already.

Karl,

My wife and I started the company as a not-for-profit organization, as a tool to help schools communicate with parents and their community. Eventually we would like to have a couple of sponsors - maybe even local companies that support the schools already, whose message (less than 45 characters) would be appended to the alerts. Alerts are sent via email and text message, and we have automated voice alerts coming soon via telephone.

We have two young children in school, we had the time and the technology (we are both programmers and web developers), and just wanted to do something to help out the schools.

If you'd like to sign up your district and give it a try, you can fill out our request form athttp://www.schoohoo.com/adddistrictrequest1.cgi and we'll contact you within 1 to 2 business days with your activated account and do some training. Then, you'll just add your schools and begin sending alerts as you need to.

Thank you, and if you have any further questions, let me know.
