I do not think we have a formal policy on this one . . . If kids
bring their laptops and touches, etc. -- I have let them on at the hs.
My plan is to pull pw off the base stations (which is all we have
right now) - esp at the ms and hs level so kids can get on. Haven't
had problems yet with this (or at least none that I am aware of--if
you read about it tomorrow you have jinxed me!). More and more kids
are starting to bring their touches in and wanting to get on. A few
have asked to have their laptops on -- again the number has been like
2 or 3 a year. The instant looking up information in class if there
has been a question (or having it available at your fingertips) has
been a useful tool according to some teachers--not having to stop and
do it on their machines
With our new building project, part of the networking component
bidding will be to set up a private and a public network for the
reasons mentioned above. Then hopefully (if I understand all this
networking correctly) students will have access with their devices,
but it won't wreak the potential havoc on bringing devices on the
"school" side.

Okay everyone,
I knew the day was going to come, I just did not know when. It has
arrived. We are having a meeting to determine whether to allow
Personal Wireless Devices on our network or not.
I am asking for some assistance from anyone willing to share.
Here is what I am asking for
1. Do you allow outside wireless devices to access your network?
2. If so, why? If not, Why not?
I am on the fence here and want to present logical arguments for and
against both so that the Admin team can make an informed decision to
the board who can then make the policy.
Thanks all.
