Hi,

Have a bit of an issue. Well, quite a few, but one at a time. Quick background. We have been updating our servers from Ubuntu 20:04 to Debian12, and Cyrus from v3.0.13, via  v3.2.6 to v3.6.1. We have done a load of production servers in the last couple of months without any issues, having done a load of testing. This time, however, it went badly wrong. We are not sure why, but think it was in the first stage, from 3.0.13 to 3.2.6, where the problems started. We ended up with a load of empty mailboxes being created in the uuid tree rather than using the existing legacy mailboxes, that were all full of lovely email.

Anyway, we are mostly back up and running on all three servers that this happened to, but have a few remaining issues. This email is to ask about recovering ".seen" databases from an older version backup, ie 3.0.13. We tried putting them in place and doing a reconstruct but that didn't work, and in most cases the seen file didn't even update when emails were read, and I don't think we got a .seen database created when it was missing, as part of a reconstruct or later.

In some cases we think we recovered information from the index file in each folder, but again, not sure that was a permanent change.

Of course now we are a couple of days after the last known good backup, so will we make it worse by trying to fix it, or is there a way to merge the data from the old .seen file into a new .seen file?

Lastly, we also seem to have lost the deleted flags, and I am assuming, right or wrong, that this information would have also been in the .seen database.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Thanks,

Marco
