Ok, thanks. IMHO it was a "cheap" auth method for this usage
(frontend to backend auth). I switched now to PLAIN+TLS with
saslauthd -> pam -> pam_userdb at the backends. What do other murder

backends to the new 3.10, and finally upgrade the mupdate master

I've done
early => 2.5 with xfer
2.5 => 3.2 vith sync_client
3.2 => 3.8 vith sync_client
Upgarde to 3.10 or 12 will certainly be done same way.
