Yes, since you are not dialed into the old isp, it is unlikely that you can
use their smtp server. Solution, under your identity for that account
change your smtp server to your current isp's smtp server. Leave the pop3
server name, address, and return address intact. If they run a telnet
service you can login that way.

Who knows how long the old pop and ftp account will be active -- 30-60 days
or forever! I suggest if you have any personal files saved to get a copy
then delete them (i.e. did you use their webmail service? or save any files
on the web or ftp server, your homepage directory?).

Consider This!
You would not believe the information people put on a public webserver
which is still there after they close the account ( cc numbers inside old
email, nudie pictures, personal information, etc.)! If you get kicked or
cancel your account, anything you leave becomes the property of the
isp. In fact, if on a public webserver it's public domain as far as
viewing the content unless you make some sort of effort to encrypt or
password protect the information. The law is vague to say the
least. Furthermore, criminals don't play by the rules.

Please Note: The recent post suggesting the password keeper that stores
your passwords on a webserver is major security risk. Even if no hacker
from the outside the network breaks in, you still have all the management,
techsupport, administrators, and employees of that company to consider.

OTHER SECURITY RISK
Consider your dialup, email, any account -- with a large ISP, over 100
people may have access to your account, files and passwords. Do your really
want to risk this information and hope that all of these people are honest
and law abiding citizens?

If you are going to cancel your account, then get a new one first or talk
to your isp and have all your mail forwarded to the new account. Last but
not least, delete all your files on their servers. Now, don't store any
more files on a webserver, unless you want everyone to see it;0)
