After I posted the links yesterday to the Network Tracer ping/whois/traceroute software, I browsed the website where it can be obtained and discovered a very sinister security breach easily installed onto computers using the Windows operating system. Upon reading about it I wondered if my old computer had been infected with the _Back Orifice "Backdoor" Program_ because I was receiving spam email that was very stealthy and could not be blocked or filtered by either Brightmail, my ISP, nor my own email software. There is also another similar version called NetBus which is equally sinister and a threat to your security. My ISP, Brightmail, nor the offending domains did not or would not mention that such a stealth program could be responsible for what I was exeriencing even though I questioned them about such a possibility. Lo and behold, yesterday I find that such a software invasion is easily possible. I am now using my newer computer, and, perhaps not so amazingly, no longer receive these stealthy spam messages. When I set up my old computer again I will definitely use the information and resources on the PC Help website to investigate the possibility that it has been infected. Perhaps it's not, but, by what I experienced and what I've now learned via the PC Help website, it sounds plausible. For your own personal security, I highly recommend that you read the Back Orifice (and NetBus) webpage at PC Help to learn about this sinister software which has been apparently kept somewhat hush-hush by legitimate entities that ethically should be reporting about and protecting against this hackers handiwork software. Perhaps some of you have been aware of these stealth programs since they've been around for over a year, but, it was all news to me and quite revealing.
