I have a tyan mobo that was running win98 and my cd-r without errors.

I upgraded to winME and the cd-r is seen by winME but it fails to assign a drive
letter to it. I cannot manually assign on using device manager - it is grayed out.

Updated bios, chip set drivers, after trying many things with Microsoft support and
this problem still exists

I reinstalled win98 from a drive image and tried the winME upgrade again (now iwth the
new bios and chipset drivers) and it stil fails to assign a drive letter.

I tried another cable, another cd drive, another floppy controller, without success.

It all works under win98 and still does after a win98 systen restore.

I have an open unresolved incident with microsoft but I think they will blame it on my
motherboard (tyan s2390).. anyone have any ideas ???

thanks
