Thanks for taking the extra effort to explain this scripting thing more
fully. I assumed when I first encountered your initial mailing list message
that it only runs an automated action on my computer. Like I said, had it
come from a complete stranger I would have been more concerned about it. I
now realize firthand due to your "test" how egregious this security gap in
the MS products really is.
Your comment about this incident being like a pop-up message on a free
website is valid, however, I think the majority of us feel that our email
inbox is a sort of sanctuary. We didn't wander out into the unknown of
cyberspace to be "accosted" by this scripting phantom, it came to us. That's
a big difference.
I've already written this incident off to experience; I hope others on this
mailing list learned the value of this lesson too. It may not have been a
preferred manner of presentation, but, I for one did learn from it.
