I rescued one that did that. The hard drive just continually clicked and I
thought it was dead. I booted up on the A-drive start-up disk and run
scandisk on drive c. After a bunch of tedious playing around I was finally
able to boot up into drive c. Then to minimize possible future problems I
ran disk defragment and deleted auto-boot programs I didn't need. After
running scandisk some more I discovered that over 20,000 sectors of the hard
drive failed. I was able to rescue all of the data and the computer ran fine
except for the bad sectors being there.
