My husband has a 500 MHz Celeron. It's plain crap, excuse my
english. My PII 266 blew it away, honest to god. In January, I
bought an Abit BF6 - 440BX ATX Motherboard, which I paid $90,
and a Pentium III 850E 850Mhz 256KB cache 100MHz bus Coppermine
slot1 I paid $355.00 for, plus another stick of RAM bringing it
to 256 MB and it screams. Who knows perhaps I will overclock it
since it has the capability to go over 1.2 GB.
Don't ever cheat yourself out of RAM. I needed it for graphics
and it's paid off. I also have over 600 fonts so it's still fast
for me. Now, 4 months after I upgraded, my son's friend put it
together for me, it's old. Get as much as you can for your bucks.
I also hate Hewlet Packard ... another bucket of junk... always
has, always will be. For what it's worth.
